Savor the Essence of Virginia's Wine Country
You can’t miss the signs pointing to Pollak Vineyards throughout the 151 wine trail, with their bright yellow logo. The owners are undoubtedly proud of their craft, and with good reason. Boasting seven out of the Top Twelve Wines at the Virginia Governer’s Cup wine competition in 2023, Pollak’s name is on the rise. Sit outdoors on the patio or bring a blanket for a picnic by the lake. This is a popular venue, so be prepared to wait your turn in the tasting room.
Drinks
To sample their award-winning wines, try the 2023 Gold Medal Flight. The 2017 Meritage ($45) has won several other awards for its stunning complexity and richness. For white, try the Pinot Gris ($25), which tastes of peaches and has a bright minerality. Their website gives an uncanny amount of information on each wine, including the number of cases produced and bottling dates.
Menu
An assortment of cheeses and meats, delicious fresh bread, and treats from local bakers Albemarle Baking Company are available. Outdoor picnics are welcome.
Pros
Flexible seating options, award-winning wine, casual
Cons
