For the true wine enthusiast, Grace Estates goes beyond the pour.
Estate-grown wine on 50 acres of the beautiful and expansive Juliet Farm in Crozet. Guests can enjoy a tasting or more in the Tasting Room, lower level, on the terrace balcony, or on the grounds. The tasting room is adjacent to the Grace Family mansion, which is also open to the public. The environment is relaxed but still stately and suitable for family picnics or a romantic moment in the shade of a mansion. Later hours on the weekends mean that you can plan to end your winery tour on this dreamy land. Check their socials for events, including live music on Fridays. There is a weekly Salsa Social each Sunday afternoon from 1 to 5 pm.
Drinks
At Grace Estate, you will be drinking wine 100% produced on the ground upon which you walk—a rarity in the area, where most producers must outsource from other farms to get enough grapes for a significant pressing. Grace is committed to estate wine and keeping their unique, small production lot as it is. This allows them to evaluate each vintage and to deeply understand the terroir year after year.
A self-guided tasting with pre-poured samples is available outdoors. On slower days, ask the tasting room assistant to talk you through their delicious wines and the stories of their vines. Twelve of the fourteen wines are named after an ancestor of the Grace family and have an associated story or quality that may entertain you while you sip!
The 2017 Adeliza ($25) is crafted from Petit Manseng aged in cognac barrels. Rich and velvety for a white wine, this one is suitable for picnic fare or dessert.
Grace makes a lovely blanc de blancs-style sparkling wine, the Herleve($39). It is a wonderful choice if you are celebrating and ready to commit to a whole bottle. Crisp and then nutty, this brut reminds one of old French champagne.
For the deepest and darkest red on the menu, go for the 2019 Colonel Richard Tannat ($45).
