Flying Fox Vineyard Offers a Captivating Wine Experience, Charming Estate, and Stunning Vistas.
Flying Fox Vineyard started in 2006 as a craft winery with a modest tasting room. More recently, they’ve moved operations to a renovated warehouse and built a handsome tasting room accommodating more than a handful of visitors. Comfortable leather couches, hip music, and knowledgeable staff make this tasting room feel incredibly elevated but not stuffy.
Two vineyards are associated with Flying Fox, one in Monticello AVA and another in Ridge Run Vineyard in the Shenandoah Valley AVA. At the bar, you’ll learn about which wines were sourced where and how the terroir shapes the flavor of classic Virginia wine.
There is ample seating for your small parties both indoors and on the outdoor patio.
Drinks
Flying Fox sports a traditional profile of a few table blends (a bargain at $18) and several excellent varietals. Viognier ($23), Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot($35) are classic Virginia grapes that absolutely thrive in the hands of Flying Fox’s winemaker. They produce a limited series of wines from time to time labeled Sly Fox ($40); different types of pruning go into these unique lots. Get a taste if you can!
A series of four Vermouths ($35) are unique to the menu, representing the four seasons accordingly through fruit and spice profiles. These vermouths are lovely on their own in a cordial glass or at home in a “foxtail.” - Flying Fox’s recipes for seasonal cocktails are available on their website. Vermouth lovers will recognize the high quality of these expertly blended fortifications.
