A family-friendly destination for orchard tours, seasonal events, and Virginia farm life.
Chiles Peach Orchard has been in operation since 1912 and is now a fifth-generation family-owned business with multiple orchards and delightful market stores. The Crozet peach orchard is where the Chiles began their farming adventure and continues to be a beautiful, bountiful peach orchard.
Mid-June to mid-July is the peak season for a pick-your-own-peaches adventure. Be sure to call the orchard or check the website for availability; because of the popularity of pick-your-own, the orchard does issue tickets to enter the property. Peaches are collected by you and weighed out at your visit's end; you pay by the pound. Come dressed to get muddy if you choose to harvest your own. It's a good idea to review the rules of the orchard online before heading there. For example, dogs and outside alcohol are prohibited on the property, but picnics are encouraged.
If playing farmer is not your scene, visit their farmer's market shop with all the goods from the Chiles' related properties: cherries, apples, peaches, apple cider donuts, and most recently, wine from their own Chiswell Farm & Winery. You can also grab a soft-serve peach ice cream from the counter in summer! In addition to fresh, local produce, the shop also carries various Virginia and country-themed gifts and kitchen accessories. Whether you're stopping by for a quick peck of peaches or taking a lengthy stroll through the orchard, this is the kind of established operation that gives you a feeling of being part of the land in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
