Blue Toad Hard Cider Offers a Taste of Roseland's Charm in Every Bottle.
With the most plentiful seating of all cideries in the area, you won’t run out of space to play, chill, and enjoy the surrounding view of the Blue Ridge mountains. This cider uses 100% locally grown Nelson County apples for their cider - but don’t get the wrong idea; cider is much more than apples! You’ll find offerings across the rainbow of fermentable fruit: Cherry-lime, blue raspberry, blackberry, and more! Seasonal events like Seafood & Sounds bring in food trucks and local musicians on most warm weekends. The vibe is casual and friendly. Bring your friends, neighbors, or the whole company - there’s room for all!
Drinks
All cider is fresh and on tap with a rotating selection of seven to nine offerings. Go for a flight and follow up with a pint of your favorite! Plenty of sweet ciders are on the menu (like the Billievable and Blue Ridge Blonde), and those are on the lighter side. “Put down that seltzer and grab an apple!” the menu hints. The Paddy Green Irish Cider will provide everything you want with its crisp, almost mineral bite for those who like a more tart cider. The Hoppin’ Toad is another dry cider that won’t spike your sugar.
Menu
The cidery offers North Carolina Style BBQ, nachos, pretzels, and chili on Saturdays. Food trucks of all varieties make an appearance when a special event happens. Check the FaceBook page for events and food truck guests!
Pros
Ample seating for large crowds, yard games, and Dog-friendly outdoors
Cons
Lacks intimacy. Many ciders are on the sweet side.
Alternatives
Bold Rock Cidery, Hazy Mountain Vineyards
FAQ
Is Blue Toad a franchise?
No, but a sister site in Rochester, NY, offers ciders made in the same style, but from apples grown on the western side of the state.
Which is better, Blue Toad or Bold Rock?
You’ll find a big following in both cideries, and they are practically next-door neighbors. Blue Toad uses all local apples, while Bold Rock is popular throughout the eastern U.S. grocery market circuit. Which tastes better? Try both and see for yourself!
